Cooks & Soldiers Introduce
Welcome to Georgia! If you are a resident or visitor in the Atlanta area searching for a genuinely unique and upscale culinary adventure, look no further than Cooks & Soldiers. This establishment is not just another restaurant; it is a dedicated exploration of Spanish and, more specifically, Basque cuisine, bringing the vibrant flavors and traditional cooking techniques of Northern Spain right to your table in the heart of Georgia.
Cooks & Soldiers is primarily classified as a Spanish restaurant and a Basque restaurant, focusing on the distinct culinary heritage of the Basque Country. This region is famous for its pintxos (small snacks traditionally eaten in bars) and Asadors (wood-fire grills). The restaurant successfully transports diners to the gastronomic streets of San Sebastián, offering a dining experience that is both cozy and romantic, yet decidedly trendy and upscale. The combination of its authentic menu and sophisticated atmosphere has quickly made it a beloved feature on Atlanta's fine dining scene, highly recommended for both intimate dinners and group celebrations.
The restaurant’s concept is built around the "txokos," or private gastronomic societies found in the Basque region where people gather to cook, eat, and socialize. This communal, ingredient-focused approach is evident in every dish, from the meticulously prepared small plates to the impressive, wood-fire grilled meats and seafood designed for sharing.
The introduction to the menu begins with 'Inspiraciones' like the creamy Smoked Bacalao Dip ($11.00), moving into 'PINTXOS TRADICIONALES' served on toast, such as the classic Pan Con Tomate ($6.00) or the savory Tortilla Española ($7.00). These small bites are perfect for solo diners, groups, or those wishing to graze and sample multiple authentic flavors.
Deeper into the menu are the 'PINTXOS ESPECIALES'—Basque small plates—which offer a richer array of flavors and textures. Favorites include the delightful Pork Cheek Croquetas ($10.00), the iconic Patatas Bravas ($9.00), and the fresh seafood options like Mejillones ($17.00) (mussels) and Gambas ($17.00) (shrimp). For heartier fare, the Cordero Estofado ($22.00) (lamb stew) or Arroz Caldoso ($18.00) (soupy rice) provide a warming, complex experience that showcases traditional Basque stewing techniques.
The centerpiece of the Cooks & Soldiers kitchen is the wood-fire grill, which defines the 'ASADOR MEAT & SEAFOOD' section. This is where the kitchen truly shines, delivering expertly charred and flavorful items designed to be shared, in true Spanish tradition. The menu features spectacular cuts like the Filete ($63.00) and the enormous, impressive Chuletón* ($98.00) or the Dry Aged Chuletón ($135.00), which are a must-try for steak aficionados. Seafood lovers are equally catered to with the highly-praised Pescado a la Parilla* (grilled fish), which customers rave about for its perfect char, crisp skin, and tender interior. Complement your main course with 'Complementos' like Valdeon Butter ($5.00) or Tampranillo Bordelaise ($5.00).
Don't skip the 'Postres' section; the Basque Cheesecake ($13.00) is a creamy, slightly burnt culinary masterpiece that provides the perfect sweet ending. The menu is thoughtfully designed to cater to various dietary needs, including excellent Vegetarian options available across the small plates and woodfire grilled vegetables, such as Hongos ($11.00) or Espárragos ($11.00).

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Absolutely loved this experience! Our server Nayya did a great job making us feel comfortable and explaining the menu items in detail. Everyone was extremely attentive and, best of all, the food was amazing! I will definitely be back soon!
October 11 · Julia MayerAbsolutely stellar seafood experience at Cooks & Soldiers! The grilled whole fish came out beautifully charred, skin crisped to perfection with a silky, tender interior. The sauce—light, herby, and packed with flavor—complemented the fish without overpowering it. Definitely a standout dish for anyone who appreciates clean, bold flavors. The grilled octopus was just as impressive—tender, smoky, with a slight char that gave it that perfect bite. Sitting atop a vibrant, stewed pepper and tomato base, every forkful had layers of sweetness, acidity, and a touch of spice. Both dishes looked and tasted like the kitchen really knows how to respect the ingredients. This place nails Basque-style seafood with finesse. Highly recommend if you’re in Atlanta looking for fresh, expertly prepared seafood with bold flavors!our server was genuinely warm, attentive, and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain the dishes and made sure everything came out just right, without ever feeling overbearing. It really elevated the whole experience.
July 15 · Brian NguyenThe food is excellent! I absolutely love that when the food is brought to you the server described the food as if they prepared it themselves with precise detail. Plates were whisked away as soon as they were emptied. Atmosphere was good, just a little too loud for my taste. I would recommend and go again next time I'm in town.
July 26 · Thelma S.We came here for a special graduation dinner and absolutely loved it! The staff was very attentive and made great recommendations, and everything was delicious! The small plates came well spaced out so that it was never too much all at once but we also didn’t have to wait too long. Definitely try the Basque cheesecake, it was one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever had. I would highly recommend this place for any type of special occasion dinner!
May 27 · Zane MaguetAmazing experience. We chose the chef experience and had a 4 course meal that included several of the pinxos and salad, and desert. It was so much food and the staff was endlessly entertaining and warm.
