La Metro Introduce
La Metro, situated within the bustling Ponce City Market, offers Georgia residents an immersive and exciting introduction to the traditional Spanish tapas bar culture. From celebrated local Chef Hector Santiago, La Metro captures the vibrant, buzzing energy of a Spanish mercado, creating a dining spot where food, drink, and lively conversation are the main events. This Spanish restaurant specializes in a wide array of small plates, known as tapas and pintxos, which are ideal for sharing and sampling the rich culinary traditions of Spain.
The menu reflects a deep commitment to Spanish authenticity, featuring everything from finely cured meats and exquisite cheeses to both classic and inventive tapas. A significant highlight is the focus on premium tinned seafood (conservas), a Spanish delicacy, alongside hearty main courses like Paella. The culinary experience is designed to be interactive, encouraging diners to enjoy a selection of bites and drinks in the convivial Spanish style. The full-service bar complements the food menu with an array of Cava, Spanish wines, ciders, and creative cocktails with Spanish twists, bringing a unique drinking culture to the heart of Atlanta.
La Metro is more than just a place to eat; it is a lively gathering place where you can start your day with a flavorful breakfast, grab a satisfying lunch, or enjoy a cozy and atmospheric dinner. The cozy, casual, and trendy atmosphere makes it a popular spot for locals looking for a quick, high-quality bite or a relaxed evening out, solidifying its place as a must-visit Spanish establishment in the Georgia food scene.
The specific address is: 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE suite 152, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA. This central location places it within the dynamic food hall on Level 1, near other popular dining and retail tenants, making it a convenient stop for PCM visitors, whether they are shopping, working, or walking the Atlanta BeltLine.
Accessibility is thoughtfully addressed to accommodate all guests visiting the popular food hall environment:
- Wheelchair Accessible Entrance to Ponce City Market and the restaurant area.
- Wheelchair Accessible Parking Lot for ease of access (Note: Parking is a Paid Parking Lot within PCM).
- Wheelchair Accessible Seating, accommodating diverse mobility needs.
The dining space itself is characterized as small but well-decorated, with both Bar Seating and limited indoor tables, complemented by additional Outdoor Seating (which remains within the covered food hall environment). The design includes Spanish-inspired decor, which helps transport the diner out of the market's general flow and into a distinctively Spanish ambiance. Guests should be aware that the table spacing, particularly in the indoor seating areas, can be tight due to the restaurant's location in a high-traffic urban market.
- Full-Day Dining: The restaurant serves Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner, ensuring great Spanish food is available throughout the day.
- Service Styles: Both Counter Service (typical for food hall ordering) and Table Service are offered, particularly for those seated at the bar or in the dining area.
- Bar and Beverages: A full Bar Onsite offers a Great Cocktails menu and a dedicated Great Wine List, emphasizing Spanish Cava, Rosados, and Tintos (reds). This includes specialty drinks like the Golden Martini and the Malaga Spritz.
- Happy Hour Specials: The restaurant offers both Happy Hour Drinks (including Spanish Beer specials) and Happy Hour Food (such as Patatas) for an early evening treat.
- Flexible Ordering: Both Dine-in and Takeout are available, and the unique service of Tinned Seafood can be purchased as-is to take home or enjoyed at the counter.
- Planning Ahead: The restaurant Accepts Reservations, which is a great option for Groups looking to secure one of the limited seated areas.
- Payment Convenience: Multiple payment options are accepted, including Credit Cards, Debit Cards, and NFC Mobile Payments.
- The Tinned Seafood Experience (Conservas): This is a major highlight, featuring an extensive list of premium products like Galician Cockles, White Cantabrian Anchovies, and Spiced Octopus. Guests can choose to buy the tin, have it served with crackers, or select the “Chef it Up” option for an additional fee, where the chef adds preparations like olive oil, garlic, and garnishes.
- Authentic Tapas and Raciones: The menu features classic small plates such as Croqueta De Jamón and Patatas Bravas, alongside larger main courses (Raciones) like Paella Valenciana and the rotating Paella Del Dia. The Bocatas (Spanish sandwiches), like the highly-rated Bocata Jamón, are also very popular.
- Expert Bar Program: La Metro’s beverage list is impressive, focusing on Spanish and Portuguese wines (like Totus Tuus Cava Brut and Marqués De Riscal) and a selection of craft beers, including Spanish favorites like Mahou and local options like Creature Comfort Tropicalia. The cocktail menu pays homage to Spain’s legendary bar culture.
- Unique Menu Display: In a nod to traditional Spanish tapas bars, some menu items are displayed behind a glass shelf, allowing patrons to visually select their tapas, a feature that enhances the authentic dining experience.
- Dessert Excellence: The dessert menu provides a perfect finish, featuring Spanish classics like Crema Catalana, Tarta De Santiago, and the popular, soft, and refreshing Basque Cheesecake.
- Dietary Options: The menu is inclusive, offering both Vegan Options and Vegetarian Options across the tapas and raciones sections, such as Bunuelo De Berenjena (eggplant fritter) and Coliflor Bravas Verdes.

The prime reason to choose La Metro is its commitment to the breadth of Spanish culinary tradition, particularly the vibrant Tapas and Pintxos culture. It’s an ideal setting for Groups and Locals who enjoy sharing and experimenting with different flavors. Where many establishments only offer a few tapas, La Metro provides a comprehensive menu, allowing for an entire evening of grazing. The Patatas Bravas, Croquetas, and the selection of Salzones (cured meats) offer fantastic value and authentic taste.
Furthermore, the specialized offerings set it apart. The emphasis on Conservas (tinned seafood) is a sophisticated choice for adventurous diners. While the pricing structure for the 'Chef It Up' option should be noted, the opportunity to taste high-quality products like Razor Clams or Goose Barnacles, fresh from the tin, is a rare delicacy in Georgia. Outside of the tinned seafood, the value remains excellent, particularly with the flavorful Bocatas and the generous portions of their main dishes, or Raciones, like the paellas.
Finally, the atmosphere and accessibility within Ponce City Market are major benefits. The small, well-decorated space creates a cozy and intimate experience, and the proximity to the BeltLine and other attractions makes it a convenient stop during a day out. With a Great Cocktail and Wine List, attentive service, and a unique display of menu items, La Metro provides a consistently engaging, professional, and authentic slice of Spain right in the heart of Atlanta. The overall quality and cultural immersion make it highly recommendable for anyone in the region.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The restaurant is located inside the food hall of Ponce City Market, on Level 1, near Ton Ton Ramen and the Williams-Sonoma store. There are limited indoor seats, which include bar seating and some outdoor seating (still within the food hall). The restaurant is small but well-decorated with Spanish-inspired decor. Our server was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. It also helps that they display actual menu items behind a glass shelf, so you can see what the food looks like. The only issue is that most of the display dishes are above eye level and are partially obscured by a black chalkboard with the dish names. The chalkboard covers half of the food display, and for shorter people like me, it’s hard to see the food at all. I had to sit on a bar stool just to get a glimpse of it.The food is tasty and served in tapas style. I don’t think the prices are unreasonable, as long as you avoid the tinned seafood, which the restaurant is known for. I went there specifically to try the tinned seafood. They offer both tinned fish and tinned shellfish. There are three ways to enjoy the tinned seafood: you can buy the can as-is and eat it fresh from the can or take it home; they can give you crackers to eat with it; or you can choose the “Chef it Up” option, where the chef prepares it for you with an additional $12 fee. I chose the third option, where the chef prepared the tinned shellfish with olive oil, minced garlic, and garnishes. The tinned razor clam cost $30 and was served in a small portion, making my dish total $42. While the tinned razor clam tasted fine, I didn’t feel it was worth the price.Aside from the tinned seafood, the rest of my order was good. The restaurant has a full bar, so they were able to make me a fruity mocktail, which we enjoyed. Our meal included:- Tinned razor clam with Chef It Up: The portion was too small, and the flavor didn’t impress.- Bocata Jamón (cured ham and pressed tomato sandwich): My boyfriend really enjoyed the sandwich.- Basque cheesecake: A soft and refreshing dessert.Note: If you order the sandwich during lunch hours, the sandwich is smaller but includes fries. If you order it outside of lunch hours, the sandwich is larger but doesn’t come with fries.Overall, we had a good experience.
April 30 · Thu Doangreat service and cool atmosphere although table spacing is tight if you dine in. Food was delicious but every dish I tried seemed to be a little salty. The fries were amazing!!
June 24 · Ruben LevellHonestly....I wish I had spent more of my money on Cava and Patatas than the Chicken Joint Across the aisle. The GILDA OG was being the OG! And yeah I know, Sardines, never had them before until this place and it's the stuff you see in old school cartoons. I was not disappointed in trying this offering😋😋 if you wanna try something new and love salty yet balanced things then definitely order this. Then come back for some Happy Hour and you're gonna be bubbly and light on the rest of the journey at this shopping place. I got my money's worth and was satisfied and filled on 2 glasses of Cava with the Patatas! Take my money! The staff made it that much more memorable the next time I'm back in ATL I'm definitely dragging the gang here to start the day right. They knew what they were talking about, answered all questions, and are just what you would hope for when trying a new dining thing.
May 06 · J. A.Located insde the Ponce City Market, La Metro serves up delicious Spanish food. The food really tasted like authentic spanish food! The staff was very kind and patient, we didn’t have to wait long for our food. Definitely recommend trying!
April 10 · L LMI went for the happy hour and got a cava and the patatas bravas. Such a beautiful place and the bartender, Lauren, was a delight. She treated me so well for my birthday! I will be coming back during my next visit in Atlanta. Thank you❤️
