San Laurel Introduce
For California residents seeking a truly exceptional and high-end dining adventure that perfectly marries the rustic, vibrant flavors of Spain with the fresh, bountiful ingredients of the Golden State, look no further than San Laurel. Situated within the luxurious Conrad Los Angeles hotel, this establishment is far more than a typical hotel restaurant; it is a signature culinary destination conceptualized by the world-renowned Chef José Andrés and his talented team. San Laurel’s core philosophy, “California Flavor with a Spanish Accent,” is evident in every dish, offering a contemporary and refined take on Spanish classics. The name itself, inspired by the aromatic bay laurel—a Mediterranean transplant that now thrives on the California coast—perfectly encapsulates this fusion of two rich culinary worlds.
The entire dining experience is designed to be immersive, elegant, and memorable. From the moment you step into the space, the modern and warm aesthetic, which perfectly complements the creative spirit of Downtown LA’s cultural corridor, sets the stage. San Laurel is a place of stylish design, thoughtful details, and a genuinely friendly yet professional atmosphere, making it a stellar choice for everything from an important power lunch to a romantic, celebratory dinner. The culinary offerings span various categories, ensuring that whether you are looking for light, flavorful appetizers, an expertly prepared seafood dish, or a show-stopping cut of meat, your palate will be delighted.
The dedication to quality is clear across the menu, which features premium items like the hand-cut *JAMÓN IBÉRICO DE BELLOTA CINCO JOTAS*, one of Spain's finest cured hams, and the inventive 'MEAT AND POTATOES'* featuring a bone-in ribeye from Blackhawk Farms. Seafood selections like the *SEARED HOKKAIDO SCALLOPS* and *LUBINA* (European Sea Bass) are prepared with a Spanish flourish, while the 'FROM THE LAND' section highlights substantial entrees like *DUCK BREAST* and *Wagyu Flat Iron*. The menu successfully blends international luxury with local California freshness, a hallmark of the dining experience here.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ (4/5)We recently visited San Laurel at Conrad Los Angeles, and it was a memorable experience. The restaurant offers a unique and refined menu, even for just appetizers and drinks, which is what we had since we had another food venue planned afterward. Despite only ordering light bites, everything we tried was flavorful and beautifully presented. The real standout, however, is the breathtaking view overlooking the Disney Concert Hall—absolutely stunning, especially as the sun sets. The contemporary yet luxurious interior design adds to the ambiance, making it feel upscale without being stuffy. The staff were all incredibly friendly and professional, though it did feel a bit short-staffed during our visit, likely due to how busy it was. That said, service was still attentive and we never felt forgotten. We parked with valet, and the $15 fee felt reasonable for downtown LA. Our check came out just over $200 for three cocktails and three appetizers, which is on the higher side, but the overall experience made it worthwhile—from the views to the vibe to the quality of food and drinks.Definitely a spot I’d recommend for special occasions or a classy night out in the city.
September 28 · Sarah Y Tse. 謝婉敏San Laurel is such a special dining experience inside Conrad Los Angeles. The space itself is beautifully designed with a modern yet warm aesthetic that perfectly matches the creative spirit of downtown LA. The moment you walk in, you can feel that this isn’t just a typical hotel restaurant. It has a unique identity of its own, with thoughtful touches everywhere from the lighting to the textures and layout. It’s elegant without feeling too formal, and stylish without trying too hard.I came here for breakfast and ended up having one of the best meals during my time in LA. The steak was beautifully cooked and seasoned, super tender with a nice sear on the outside. The omelette was fluffy and rich, made with care and just the right balance of cheese and herbs. I also had a fresh salad that was so simple but crisp and flavorful. Everything was plated with a lot of attention to detail. What really stood out for me was the yuzu coffee. It was such a fun and refreshing twist on a morning drink. The citrusy notes gave it a brightness that paired really well with the savory dishes and made the whole meal feel unique and memorable. The service was equally excellent. The team was attentive and kind without being too present, and everything flowed really smoothly. It was a calm and refined way to start the day, especially in such a beautiful setting overlooking Grand Avenue.Whether you're staying at Conrad LA or just passing through downtown, San Laurel is worth visiting. It’s a place where the food, service, and design all come together so effortlessly. I’m already thinking about going back to try it for dinner next time.
July 29 · GentaMy wife and I had our first visit to San Laurel on Saturday night, August 23, and it was an exceptional experience! From the moment we arrived, Lisa, our host, made us feel welcome, and our server Johnny provided outstanding service—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. We ordered the Scallops, Sea Bass, and Gambas, and every dish was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The quality of the food and the care in presentation truly stood out.We are so impressed with both the food and service and will definitely be returning. Highly recommend!
August 24 · Elery TanI came to San Laurel for my birthday weekend celebration, and the meal started out wonderfully. The cocktail Foggy Hill were excellent, and every dish that followed impressed me. The vermicelli mac & cheese was creamy, rich, and perfectly chewy, paired with char-grilled mushrooms that gave it great depth of flavor. The portion was generous enough to be a main dish on its own. The gambas were made with very fresh prawns, and the sauce had a tangy, slightly spicy kick with just a touch of shrimp shell flavor—absolutely delicious. The duck breast was tender and unique with the crunch of pistachio crumble, and the carrot purée added a lovely sweetness. For dessert, I ordered the Basque cheesecake. After two bites, it was just overwhelmingly sweet—like eating the filling of a Portuguese egg tart. I asked my server, “It’s a bit overly sweet, can I change to something else?” His response was dismissive: “I mean you already had it, but I can remove it from your check.” That wasn’t my intention—I simply wanted to enjoy a dessert since I was celebrating. When I said I’d try something else, he brought back the menu but told me, “Everything else will be more sweet, the cheesecake was the least sweet.” At that point, I just gave up on dessert. Honestly, I’ve never encountered such an attitude at even a $50-per-person restaurant, let alone at a place that runs about $200 per person. The food here is creative and well-executed, but for this price point, I expect not only great dishes but also professional service
September 10 · Tiansheng ChenThe best lunch we've had in a while! The oysters were fresh and hit the spot to start. The prix fixe is a great way to taste almost all the apps, and I can't say anything to do justice for the octopus and the lubina (sea bass). Recommend to anyone visiting the area or staying at the Conrad.
