La Feria Introduce
La Feria stands as a vibrant beacon of authentic Spanish culture and cuisine right in the heart of Midtown Detroit, Michigan. Since opening its doors, it has cemented its reputation as Michigan’s only authentic Spanish tapas restaurant and has become a cherished part of the city’s dynamic culinary landscape. The restaurant, whose name is inspired by the Seville Fair (Feria de abril) in Spain, embodies a spirit of festivity, warmth, and a deep passion for traditional Spanish food and hospitality. It offers local Michigan residents and visitors an opportunity to embark on a delightful gastronomic journey, focusing on the Spanish tradition of 'tapas'—small, savory dishes meant for sharing and savoring over conversation and excellent drinks.
The concept of tapas is central to the La Feria experience. It encourages diners to sample a wide array of flavors, textures, and ingredients, creating a communal and exploratory dining adventure. While some patrons accustomed to large American-style portions may initially find the concept of 'small plates' different, the intention is not necessarily to "fill you up" with a single dish but to allow for the enjoyment of numerous distinct, flavorful Spanish classics. The menu, thoughtfully crafted by co-owner and head chef Pilar Baron Hidalgo—a native of Seville—is based on her family's traditional recipes, ensuring a truly authentic taste of Spain. Co-owners Naomi Khalil and Elias Khalil, a lifelong devotee of Spanish culture and a passionate Detroit resident and co-author of a book on the Cass Corridor, respectively, contribute to the restaurant’s deep roots in both Spanish authenticity and local community engagement.
Beyond the food, La Feria is also a hub for Spanish beverages. The restaurant operates alongside 'Cata Vino Mercado and Wine Bar,' an adjacent space dedicated to Spanish wines, sherry, and gourmet retail. This comprehensive approach means La Feria boasts a remarkable selection of Spanish drinks to perfectly complement the food. Diners can explore a variety of Spanish wines, including crisp whites like Marqués De Cáceres, full-bodied reds such as Baron De Ley, and playful rosés like Clarete De Luna. The sherry selection, featuring Fino, Manzanilla, and Pedro Ximenez, offers a classic Spanish pairing. Specialty cocktails, including the signature Sangría La Feria, Margarita Madrid, and the Mojito Pilar, along with traditional Spanish mixed drinks like Agua De Sevilla and Tinto De Verano, round out an impressive and authentically Spanish beverage list.
La Feria is conveniently situated in the revitalized Cass Corridor/Midtown area of Detroit. This location places it in a culturally rich and easily accessible district, making it a prime destination for Michigan food lovers. The exact address is:

The restaurant is committed to accessibility, ensuring all guests feel welcome. Choosing La Feria means selecting a genuine, high-quality Spanish dining experience unmatched in the Michigan area. What makes this restaurant truly worthwhile is its unwavering commitment to authenticity. The menu is a carefully curated selection of Spanish classics and traditional regional specialties, not simply an Americanized interpretation. Diners appreciate the opportunity to "order, order, order" and explore the complexity of Spanish cuisine through small, intensely flavored plates. The ability to pair these dishes with a remarkably varied and affordable Spanish wine list, from the red Balbas to the Cava Mercat, or a handcrafted specialty cocktail like the Spanish Harlem, elevates the entire experience.
Furthermore, the atmosphere—a balance of cozy intimacy and lively Spanish energy—is perfect for any occasion, whether it’s a romantic date, a group celebration, or solo dining. It is a welcoming space for everyone, from college students and locals to tourists. For those seeking dishes that truly pack a punch of authentic flavor, popular recommendations from the tapas menu include the grilled octopus (Pulpo a la Parrilla), the simple yet exquisite sardines (Sardinas Asadas), the classic Spanish omelette (Tortilla Española), and the universally loved almond-stuffed bacon-wrapped dates (Tocino Relleno de Datil). The combination of excellent, authentic food, a sophisticated beverage program, and an incredibly warm, inclusive atmosphere makes La Feria an essential dining destination in Detroit and a true culinary gem for all of Michigan.

September 30 · Jonathan NLa Feria is one of a kind restaurant in Detroit. It offer Spanish Tapas and Spanish theme drinks. Don't come here hungry though, because Tapas are not supposed to fill you up, otherwise you will have a pretty big tap.You can try a variety of tapas and every one of them pack with flavors.Nimble on a piece of fresh grill octopus, pair with a sip of sangria and you will have a good time.Except for the potatoes, it is just like the garlic hashbrown I make at home, but cost is triple
August 17 · FriedChickenLa Feria staff was friendly and engaging. The food was delicious!
