Sevilla Introduce
For New Yorkers seeking a true taste of Spanish culinary tradition, a visit to Sevilla is an absolute must. More than just a restaurant, Sevilla is a cherished landmark in Greenwich Village, proudly holding the title of New York City's oldest Spanish restaurant, tracing its roots back to 1941. It has been a constant source of authentic, home-style Spanish food and a link to the city's 'Little Spain' history, providing a cozy, classic, and consistently reliable dining experience for generations of patrons. The focus here is on time-honored recipes, generous portions, and an ambiance that transports you straight to a classic, old-world Spanish establishment.
The culinary philosophy at Sevilla is rooted in continuity and authenticity. The menu today still features original recipes, and much of the cooking is guided by family traditions passed down through generations of ownership, hailing from regions like Galicia in Spain. This commitment to traditional preparation earned the restaurant the prestigious James Beard Foundation Award in 2015, a testament to its dedication to preserving and presenting the finest ethnic cuisine. When dining here, you're not just having a meal; you're participating in a piece of New York City's rich gastronomic and cultural history.
The menu is extensive, offering a comprehensive selection of Spanish staples that go beyond the usual tapas bar fare. Noted for its seafood and rich rice dishes, the restaurant’s preparation style often highlights fresh, simple ingredients, focusing on classic sauces like ajillo (hot garlic sauce), a la marinera (seafood sauce), and vibrant green sauces made with olive oil, parsley, and garlic. From rich soups to hearty meats, the offerings span the full spectrum of traditional Spanish dining.
One of the most praised dishes is the Paella, available in several satisfying varieties including the classic Paella a La Valenciana with chicken, sausage, and seafood, or the decadent Paella a La Marinera With Lobster. Another notable highlight is the Mariscada, a mixed seafood platter served with a choice of delicious sauces such as the rich Egg Sauce (cream sauce) or the classic a la Sevilla (hot tomato sauce). Appetizers like Shrimp Ajillo (in hot garlic sauce), the Galician-style Pulpo A La Gallega (Octopus), and the savory Spanish fritters known as Croquetas provide the perfect start to any authentic Spanish meal. Other customer-favorite dishes include the Arroz Con Pollo and the Bacalao (codfish) prepared in various traditional sauces.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Easter dinner with my husband, the staff welcomed us with a friendly smile. We asked if the sangria was made by the house bartender not the box one . Very disappointed with the quality that we got. Our first tapas was the grill octopus that was so salty very hard to finish. Must say the texture was perfect. Scallops was our second choice with garlic taste was good presentation not to appealing. Empanadillas over fried/ cod . Desert choice flan pleasant not sugary . Not the best spaniel restaurant. Expresso is good 👍
April 20 · Ivette MelendezNice spot with tasty food and a pleasant atmosphere. The service was decent — polite and efficient, though not outstanding. Prices are fair. We had the Mariscada with Egg Sauce (mixed seafood in a cream sauce) — it was delicious! We also tried the octopus, and honestly, it was the best I’ve ever had — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The only things I’d suggest are removing the TV, as it doesn’t really match the restaurant’s vibe, and turning the music up just a bit to create a cozier ambiance. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend it.
March 23 · Sofiia BlidchenkoI was really excited about this place and thought I would love it. The atmosphere is good- nice music, old movie on the tv, staff wearing matching vests, booth seating and a nice bar. Unfortunately steak was overcooked and quite dry/bland and the service was bad. Nobody asked me how anything was and I was hardly spoken to at all. Only because I was very hungry I ate half my sirloin but needed steak sauce.
June 27 · Raven HughesSevilla is a gem. Authentic Spanish cuisine with a cozy establishment! The food is to die for, the paella and the best sangrias, a little taste of Spain in NY is this where you want to be! And the waiter Jesus is funny and polite. I will always be back here . Highly recommended.
August 07 · Ursula BardalezVery attention, intimate dinning experience. Had chorizo appetizer to start and shrimp in garlic sauce for dinner. My wife had the sirloin which I kept stealing and dipping in my garlic shrimp sauce. Drinks were nice and strong. The waitstaff is very attentive. Highly recommended restaurant. Forgot to post dessert but got the cappuccino and vanilla custard for dessert.
