Welcome to Tomiño Taberna Gallega, a celebrated destination in the New York dining scene that expertly blends the lively atmosphere of a Spanish taberna with the refined focus of an excellent wine bar. Nestled in Lower Manhattan, this establishment is more than just a restaurant; it’s a dedicated tribute to the authentic culinary heritage of Galicia, the beautiful, coastal region in northwestern Spain. While it is classified as a Galician and Spanish restaurant, its identity as a top-tier wine bar is unmistakable, offering a sophisticated and extensive selection of Spanish and regional Galician wines that are often hard to find elsewhere in the city.
Tomiño Taberna Gallega, named after a town on the Miño River, was founded by the González brothers, who brought their family's deep-rooted passion and generations of culinary excellence from Spain to the heart of NYC. This commitment to authenticity is evident in every dish, from the legendary Galician octopus (Pulpo á Feira) to the perfectly executed, runny-centered Tortilla de 'Betanzos'. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and truly authentic, with a rustic-chic interior featuring exposed brick and wooden accents that successfully transport New Yorkers to a cozy corner of Spain without leaving Manhattan.
The experience here is designed for sharing, savoring, and discovery, making it a perfect spot for locals, tourists, and groups looking for an unforgettable taste of Spanish culture. The excellent wine program, curated by one of the sommelier-trained brothers, anchors the entire dining experience, ensuring every bite of authentic Galician tapas is perfectly complemented by a glass of regional Spanish excellence. It's an essential New York experience, recognized by the Michelin Guide for its quality and value.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Tomiño Taberna Gallega is absolutely amazing! The beer (Estrella Galicia 1906 Reserva Especial) was so 👍 good — crisp, smooth, and perfectly poured. A must-have if you visit!I also had the fried squid, and it was hands down the best I’ve ever had — perfectly crispy, tender inside, and topped with a flavorful green sauce that made it unforgettable. Pairing it with the fresh bread on the side was perfect. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service made the experience even better. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for authentic Spanish flavors in NYC. I’ll definitely be coming back!
September 28 · M MParty of 4.Staffs are attentive and friendly.Food is good besides the aged steak was on the chewy side. Tapas were good and made fresh.Indoor decor is simple and clean.Drinks were good.
September 08 · Wien LooWe came here for a late lunch. Able to get a table without having a reservation. The food was delicious we had olives, the peppers, octopus, tortilla (runny eggs),croquettes, and the scallops. Everything was perfectly cooked. I highly recommend wine drinks and beer selection. Also good. There’s a gluten-free beer option and it would be easy to make a meal gluten-free here.
June 28 · Heidi MayerThe food was outstanding, but the service was poor. My friend and I felt unwelcome from the moment we arrived. There was no greeting, no explanation of the menu, and no follow-up throughout our meal. Food runners made us feel rushed, and when we asked for a moment to decide on dessert, our server bluntly told us, “I need this table in 15 minutes.” I don’t think a 20%+ tip suggestion is justifiable when customers are only deemed as ATMs.
August 27 · Vickie ChenWe were at the Feast of San Gennaro and needed a break, when we stumbled onto Tomino, a lovely "taverna Gallega" on Grand St. opposite Ferrara's. A beautiful cozy interior with a bar near the entrance, and Fernando concocted some delicious cocktails for us. Our go-tos are margaritas and Old Fashioneds, and both were so good! Photos are below. We stayed for two drinks each and we promised to come back for their tapas and dinner menu. Everything sounded wonderful so this is definitely going to be worth a return visit for food (as well as more cocktails!)
